Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Use govern your access to n6mud.com and its content, station chat, uploads, links, and other features (the “Site”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
General-audience site
The Site is intended for a general amateur-radio audience age 13 and older. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the Site only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Children under 13 may view public content but must not use chat, upload media, or submit personal information.
Informational content only
N6MUD shares personal experience and general information about amateur radio, radio-frequency equipment, audio systems, antennas, software, and related topics. It is not engineering, electrical, safety, medical, legal, or other professional advice. Equipment, mains electricity, towers, antennas, batteries, amplifiers, and radio-frequency energy can create serious hazards. Follow manufacturer instructions, applicable laws, FCC rules, permit requirements, and sound safety practices. Use qualified professionals where appropriate.
The Site is not an emergency communication service and should not be relied upon for emergency, safety-critical, or time-sensitive communications.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Site. In particular, you must not:
- post unlawful, threatening, harassing, hateful, obscene, deceptive, privacy-invasive, or infringing content;
- impersonate another person or operator, use a callsign you are not authorized to use, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation;
- upload malware, executable content, or material intended to disrupt, probe, overload, or compromise the Site or another visitor;
- collect or use other visitors’ information for spam, harassment, surveillance, or unauthorized commercial purposes;
- circumvent access controls, moderation, validation, rate limits, or security measures; or
- use the Site in a way that violates law or another person’s rights.
Your posts and uploads
You retain any ownership rights you have in content you submit. You represent that you have the necessary rights and permissions to submit it. By posting, you grant N6MUD a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, transmit, format, and distribute that content only as reasonably needed to operate, promote, moderate, and maintain the Site. This license ends when the content is deleted from active systems, except for residual backups, legal records, and copies made by others.
Chat is public. Do not upload confidential information, personal data about others without permission, copyrighted recordings or images you cannot share, or content that could expose someone to harm.
Moderation and availability
We may reject, remove, or preserve content; restrict access; or suspend features at our discretion to enforce these terms, protect people or systems, respond to legal requests, or maintain the Site. We are not obligated to monitor every submission. Features may be changed, interrupted, or discontinued at any time without notice.
N6MUD content
Except for user submissions, credited third-party material, and material otherwise identified, the Site’s original text, design, graphics, photographs, and branding belong to N6MUD and are protected by applicable law. You may link to public pages and make reasonable personal, noncommercial use of the Site. No other license is granted.
Third-party services and links
The Site uses or links to services operated by OpenAI, YouTube, Spotify, QRZ, WeatherFlow, CounterAPI, Google, and others. Uploaded images are submitted to OpenAI for automated safety screening before publication. Third-party content, availability, security, and practices are controlled by those providers and governed by their own terms. A link or embed does not imply endorsement, and N6MUD is not responsible for third-party services.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site and all content and features are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. N6MUD does not warrant that information is complete, accurate, current, safe for your circumstances, uninterrupted, or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, N6MUD and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, property, profits, goodwill, or use, arising from or related to the Site, third-party services, user content, or your reliance on site information. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Responsibility for misuse
You are responsible for your use of the Site and your submissions. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless N6MUD and its operator from third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use, your content, or your violation of these terms or another person’s rights.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in San Diego County, California, except where applicable consumer law requires otherwise.
